Christmas market season is upon us and we are there! Well, we are at a few. Two done and one more to go. One more on December 1st and it’s the closest and therefore, the easiest. Just down the road from our home in the Municipality of Gordon/Barrie Island at the Gordon Hall.
It’s a little more challenging with the mobile shop at this time of year. It’s cold. But, we were talking last night about the challenges of selling wool during the summer months in plus 30 degrees Celsius weather and it’s a toss up! We dress warmly and go inside to warm up now and then, but the biggest challenge is that the shoppers don’t really want to hang around outside and see what’s on offer. They are cold!
It’s deer season week here on the island and the roads are crowded with trailers and little orange people everywhere. Our quiet little oasis in the bush isn’t very quiet. Hunters have arrived at their hunt camps and the bush is noisy with their generators running. It’s quite a change from our normal calm and I’m guessing the deer have noticed the difference as well. They haven’t been out in the nearby field the last two days for their normal morning and evening nibbles. There are too many deer though and we do love venison so I’m hoping dear husband has some luck again this year.
