Or, I’ve learned my lesson or, it seemed like a good idea at the time or, how stupid could I be. Take your pick. All apply.
This past weekend was the Manitoulin Art Tour and in my case, the Manitoulin Garden Tour. The garden tour is running over 10 days, but I thought I could just do both at the same time. My garden and my art (hand dyed yarns) are all connected. It’s the plants that make those beautifully coloured yarns. Doing both at the same time wasn’t a problem. Some came for the yarn, some for the garden, but everyone seemed very interested and engaged in both. Too interested. Too engaged.
Apologies to the lovely people we met and who came, explored, toured, and made purchases. And there were many. Lovely people.
The problem was that there were just too many rude, obnoxious, inconsiderate people. Way too many.
Those that when offered a small snack and drink made from things from the garden, decided it was lunch and filled themselves full. Those that then filled their water bottles with the juice provided for a sample. A sample people!!!!!!! A sample!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not your free lunch. Unbelievable.
Those that decided that this must be a pick-your-own place and starting helping themselves to cucumbers and peas from the garden. I just about totally lost it.
Then these very same people, after spending 2-3 hours lounging about our place long after the tour was finished , did not purchase a single thing. Nothing. Not a thing. Not a jar of the pesto they had devoured, not the veggies or herbs that were offered for sale, not a ball of yarn, not a bar of soap. Nothing. Zero.
Never again. I’m done with being the entertainment for people that don’t seem to know what to do with themselves other than waste my time.
Never again.
Sweetie, that sounds awful! I’m so sorry you had this experience. I don’t even know what to say. I was just stopping by to do a little looking before making a purchase and saw your post. How sad.
I just need to vent! There were so many wonderful people over that weekend and so many that come that are so lovely to meet. I just need to focus on that instead of a few bad apples!
