It makes perfect sense to start knitting a cool summer top on one of the hottest days of the summer back in July. Perfect sense.
It was hot. I just couldn’t pick up wool to knit with. Not even a small pair of socks. Cotton was on my mind. Cool cotton.
And, so, I started Petronella – a free Drops pattern – with some very, very old yarn in my stash. One of those gigantic big balls of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton.
I love it. It’s pink. Of course. And cool, and a fairly easy knit, wonderful shaping at the waist, and pink. Pink is the best part.
I messed up the lace bits on the sleeves by reading the chart upside down so I continued the upside down chart on the bottom. Not sure if it really would have made much difference and as the error was consistent at least!, I think I can live with it.
Our weather has turned warm again this week and I may actually have an opportunity to wear it before next summer. It fits so well that I’m thinking I might need to knit the 3/4 length sleeve version. Maybe for the fall! In wool!
